Race Start DetailsWHEN
The official start of the Copper Dog 150 is Friday, March 3rd in downtown Calumet at 6pm! Opening ceremonies kick off at 6pm with dog teams leaving the start gate around 7pm. Expect fireworks to start at 8:45pm. WHERE The start gate will be set up at the intersection of 5th Street and Portland Streets in downtown Calumet. The starting section of course runs north, down the length of 5th Street, from Portland to Pine Streets and you can catch the dogs from either side of the street the whole way! You can bring a chair to sit or just stand and watch! Many businesses welcome fans to come inside and warm-up during the event too, details at right! WHAT (RULES & TIPS) If you're coming to watch the race bring your family, bring your friends, dress warm, but please leave your pet pooch at home. No pets are allowed along the course. The race course (a snow road) is set up right through the middle of our downtown, so expect 5th Street to be closed, with no cross traffic allowed. Plan on parking a few blocks away and walking to the race, it's a busy day in town! There is ample parking at the Calumet Colosseum ice rink, just 2 blocks from the race start. Take advantage of all the fun activities and hospitality our businesses offer while you're in town! Enjoy a reuben, Aussie sausage roll, bowl of squash soup, or chili and mac n' cheese! Owner and ceramicist William Thompson recently moved in, so you'll get to see his shop pre-grand opening!
