Advertising packages for downtown merchants are being put together in preparation for the October retail event associated with the opening of the National Historical Park Visitor’s Center.
The committee is reaching out to Finnish groups in the community to help in the planning of the 2012 Heritage Celebration next August. The Heritage Celebration will be a local springboard for the FinFest USA 2013 event .
The possibility of a Toivo run from Blissfield, MI to Calumet is steadily building momentum.To date Blissfield, Marshall, Niles and Howell are all interested in using the run as local fundraisers. Old Town Lansing is even toying with the idea of setting out tables and having a pasty lunch for the state legislators as Toivo comes through. The run presents an opportunity to get national sponsorship and press coverage.
